Why Save The Parade? Part 1

July 2nd, 2008 · No Comments

Aloha Friends -

Here’s a list for you to read. What do they all have in common?

  •   Auntie Genoa
  •   Don Ho
  •   Aloha Airlines
  •   Molokai Ranch
  •   KC Drive Inn
  •   Tahitian Lanai
  •   Ray Kane
  •   Kodak Hula Show
  •   Liberty House
  •   Almost Every Bowling Alley In Hawaii

Give Up? The answer is that they’re all gone now and greatly missed. Some more than others, of course.

The point is that we’re getting close to losing another Hawaii institution: The Aloha Festivals Parade. All of the people, places and events in the list became a part of the Island life. So much so that we took them for granted, at least at some time in their existence/lives. I deeply regret that I didn’t go to see Auntie Genoa perform one more time at the Marriott. Now it’s too late.

Let’s not look back on one more thing Hawaii has lost. Help us keep this great local procession marching - and riding - forward year after year. You can add your assistance right now through the PayPal link below. Do it now. You won’t regret it. We promise.
